Do the devices used for scoring need to be connected to the internet?
Yes, each device needs to have an internet connection, which can be achieved via Wifi, or via the device's own 3G, 4G, or 5G.
What internet speed is required?
There is no strict minimum - you just need a basic connection as our service is only transmitting text/numbers, it does not require a super-strong connection like if you were live streaming for example. The best way to validate the internet is by visiting the area where your judges will be and see if liveheats.com loads on your mobile device. If it does - you're good!
What happens if the internet drops down temporarily?
If there's a temporary connection outage, the judging/scoring page itself will continue to function and the judges can continue entering scores. When the connection is restored the data will be sent to the cloud. You cannot start/end heats or view averages during this time, however.
Do devices need to be using the same wifi connection?
No - devices can be on different connections. They sync in the cloud, in the same way that you can see your same data when logged into Facebook on different devices.
Is there a full offline version we can use in a remote area?
No, LiveHeats does not have an offline version, instead we recommend renting a Starlink Roam device for your event. There are many providers who rent Starlink around the world (check Google). Starlink provides an internet connection which your scoring device can connect to via Wifi.
