Every now and again an event will run not using LiveHeats, but you need the results to be added for the purpose of rankings and seeding. The below describes how you can use our results import feature to manage this.
Note: Using our import results tool allows you to import the final rank for each athlete in a particular event divison (e.g. Final rank for Silverstar Crankworx 2023 > Open Men 1st place), but does not allow you to import ride/run scores or times. If you'd like to store ride/run scores, please use our scoring tools.
Preparing a spreadsheet to import results into an event
- Make a copy of our template file in Google sheets. The file can contain all divisions in the event on one sheet, At a bare minimum, the spreadsheet should contain these columns:
- Division/s (must use exact spelling as set up in the event on LiveHeats)
- First name
- Last name (note, you can also import 'Name' as one column)
- Date of birth, strictly in the format YYYY-MM-DD (computers struggle understanding other formats, as different countries order months and days differently around the world)
- Rank (their result in the event division)
- Add in any extra columns if you'd like to import values for any custom fields you use, such as Gender, State, or member ID, based on the needs/requirements of your organisation/federation
- Export or save the spreadsheet to your desktop in csv or xls
How to import results into an event on LiveHeats
- Login as a director and Create the event, and set the event to the relevant Series and add the relevant Divisions. Note the spelling of divisions in the file and LiveHeats must be identical. You should make sure the file's spelling matches how you spell divisions in LiveHeats (e.g. if its 'Ski Men' on Liveheats but 'Ski Male' on the file, then they won't be matched during import)
- Complete any configurations you'd like such as ranking points multipliers or divison settings > rankings (e.g. if its part of a federated rankings)
- Set the Event status to complete
- Click on the three dots above the divisions and click Upload results:
- Upload the spreadsheet file you prepared as per the above instructions:
- Set the header row (column labels), and then be sure to map all the columns to the Liveheats fields. Note, all custom fields must be manually mapped:
- Review the warning dialogue to ensure all data will be imported into existing divisions. If there's differently spelled divisions, they will be added as new divisions to the event and won't be mapped to your rankings on Liveheats, if there's already existing rankings:
- Once imported, each division will have a Final, populated with the final rank:
- Finally, change the Event status to Results published to publish these results to the rankings
