Common questions relating to this feature
What is Stripe and is it part of LiveHeats?
Stripe (https://stripe.com/) is the world's most advanced technology platform for facilitating payments on the internet. It's products are integrated into thousands of technology platforms around the world, and allows providers like LiveHeats to help customers facilitate payments. Stripe is a seperate company to LiveHeats. We use the Stripe Connect solution, which allows Organisations to accept payments from Athletes via our platform.
I don't have a not for profit established yet - what do I do?
You can set up an individual account and verify it using your own details. Please note that you should consult a tax accountant before accepting any funds on behalf of your organisation.
Why does Stripe need so much information?
Most countries around the world have strict laws in place for handling money on the internet. In the USA for example, this verification falls into the Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines and regulations in financial services which require professionals to verify the identity, suitability, and risks involved with maintaining a business relationship with a customer. The procedures fit within the broader scope of anti-money laundering (AML) and counter terrorism financing (CTF) regulations. Other countries have similarly structured regulations.
