Stripe allows organizers to offer promo codes (discount coupons) for athletes to apply during check out. You can activate a percentage discount (e.g. 25%), or a fixed amount discount (e.g. $20).
Please note that:
- This feature is only supported once you have upgraded your Stripe integration to the new enhanced dashboard. If when you login to Liveheats you see Payments (legacy), in the top navigation, you'll first need to migrate over, see here for how
- Liveheats transaction fees will still calculate on the original division/option price, not the discounted price (something we hope to fix soon).
How to create a promo code in Stripe
- Login to https://dashboard.stripe.com/, being sure to be logged into the account linked to your Liveheats account
- In the left navigation click More > Product catalogue:
- Click Coupons and click New:
- Complete the form with all the details of your discount. You can leave Duration on Forever - this is not relevant as your events are not subscriptions. Be sure to active Codes at the bottom of the form:
- Enter the details for the coupon code. This is the code you'll share with your athletes to use on event or membership payments. Click Create coupon:
Promo code common questions
How does the athlete redeem the discount?
When they are completing their payment on LiveHeats, there will be an option for Apply promo code. They can press this and enter a valid promo code and the discount will automatically apply to their final registration price. Note, this will apply to their whole cart, including all athletes they are registering and any paid extras they are purchasing:
Can we offer discounts on membership registration or just event registration?
Yes you can use it on both event registration and memberships!
Can I restrict it's use to one particular event or membership series?
Unfortunately not, it will work on any payment using your Stripe account.
Can I apply a 100% discount so certain athletes can register for free?
Yes you can!
Can I offer a promo code in waitlisted registration?
Unfortunately you cannot. If you are using waitlisted event registration you will not be able to use this feature.
